The AI model runs on your Mac instead of a company's server. Here's what that means for your documents.
When you use a typical AI tool, your documents and questions are sent to the vendor's servers, where the model reads them and sends back an answer. Privileged downloads the model to your Mac. Your documents are read and answered there.

Your files are never sent to an AI company, so a breach at one can't expose them.
No company receives your documents, so none can train a model on them.
There's no outside server or data policy between you and your client's file.
Everything lives in a folder on your Mac, protected the same way as everything else on it.
Privileged copies it into its own folder on your Mac. Your original file isn't changed.
Most PDFs already contain their text. For scans and phone photos, one click runs OCR on your Mac.
Also on your Mac, so a question can search every document in the matter.
It reads the relevant passages and returns an answer or value with the quote and page it came from.
Privileged confirms the quoted text appears on the cited page. In review tables, it also checks that the quote supports the value. Anything that fails is flagged Unverified for you to review.
Your documents are the rows and your questions are the columns. Each cell is filled from its document, with the page it came from.
Ask a question across a whole matter and get an answer that cites the passage in your documents.

What it doesn't do: it doesn't do legal research, doesn't draft documents, and doesn't draw legal conclusions. It reports what your documents say. The judgment stays with you.

There are two model tiers. Standard runs on any supported Mac. Heavy is a larger model for Macs with more memory.
New AI models come out often. Before a new model ships in Privileged, we run it through the same benchmark and publish the results. You choose whether to switch.
On our benchmark of 150 real commercial contracts, 97.2% of the Standard model's answers that passed the checks were correct. The seven that weren't are each described on the benchmark page.
